DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has told Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties to not be stingy in seat negotiation while reminding the Muda to not be greedy in demanding for seats.

Speaking at the DAP congress today, Loke recounted the story of how DAP and PAS negotiated with PKR when the parties were holding seat talks ahead of the 1999 general election.

“During the negotiation, DAP was represented by the late Kerk Kim Hock (then DAP secretary-general) and PAS was led by the late Ustaz Fadzil Noor (then PAS president).

“We all know how hard it was to negotiate with Kerk but Ustaz Fadzil, in his wisdom, made a very interesting remark.

“The former PAS president said, we should be greedy in our demands and we must also not be stingy when giving.

“Those were very wise words from him and in the end we managed to find a solution in the allocation of seats,” said Loke.

The Seremban MP was referring to Muda’s wish to join PH and the objection faced by the party from PKR.

Loke also said that PH is not a bully, adding that the coalition needs to stay united as a team.

“This is my advice to ‘orang muda-muda’ (young people). Please listen carefully, I’m not saying Muda members.

“In PH, there shouldn’t be any bullying behaviour among one another. We respect one another, no matter what age.

“PH is not a bully. We want PH to be strong and to enter the election as one united team,” he said. – September 25, 2022.
