PENANG DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow will conduct interview sessions with the party’s incumbent assemblymen in the state to get an idea of their preferences and aspirations on whether they want to continue being considered as candidates for the upcoming general election.

Chow said interview sessions for potential candidates were done last month and the number of vacancies that can be filled by new faces would depend on the number of incumbents who are willing to give way.

“We will always introduce new faces in every general election but the answer (on how many) can only be given when the time is right,” he told a press conference in George Town today.

Chow, who is also Penang chief minister, said the interview sessions with incumbent assemblymen will be brief and can be done anytime.

Chow also said Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) held a meeting last night to decide on new leaders following the changes to the state PKR leader line-up.

“We have also discussed the issue of elections preparation, including holding a PH tour in October and November to all the areas where we will contest as well as organising a state convention to invigorate the state PH members and leadership to face the general election.

“A statement will be issued by the state PH on this matter,” he said. – Bernama, September 21, 2022.
