MUDA has set its sights on Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) seats in the next general election, not Pakatan Harapan (PH) seats, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz said.

The Muda deputy president said Muda working alongside PH is the best offer for the public.

“When we announced our intention to join PH last week, we emphasised on two issues – that we are targeting Umno-BN and PN (Bersatu and PAS) seats,” she said in a statement on Facebook.

“Secondly, Muda’s mission for the 15th general election is to ensure a win for the people and the opposition bloc.”

The PKR Youth wing is still smarting from Muda’s decision to run against Anwar Ibrahim’s party in the Johor polls, wrestling one seat from the party in the process.

Muda had worked with DAP and Amanah in the state elections.

The Puteri Wangsa assemblyman said seat negotiations and communications will be smoother if they were in the same coalition.

“This is not a small matter. We should let the PH presidential council discuss it first,” she said.

Last week, PH said it will set up a committee to hold negotiations and evaluate Muda’s position.

PH vice chairman Salahuddin Ayub said the negotiations were part of engagement steps with Muda, in addition to clarifying parameters for parties intending to join the coalition. – September 19, 2022.
