MALAYSIANS will not have to wait long before the announcement for the general election is made, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said the people have to wait just a little bit longer as the 15th general election will be called after discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“Believe me. A bit more (the wait). It won’t be long.

“BN’s top five leaders are here. God willing we will meet soon to discuss,” he said during the BN Youth election machinery launch at the Titiwangsa stadium in Kuala Lumpur today.

“What’s important is that when parliament is dissolved and elections are held – we must win,” Ismail added.

Zahid said that the next general election should no longer be delayed.

“We don’t have any personal issues as long as GE15 is done this year.

“PM has heard it loud and clear. I’m confident he got a clear signal (to call for election).”

The BN chairman also said that he had discussed issues concerning the polls many times.

“Yes, we have been given the mandate (on when elections will be held).

“We have discussed this many times. PM, don’t wait any longer.”

He also added that the party election machinery is ready if elections are called tomorrow.

“We are ready and we are seeking wins for all our candidates. We have have solidarity among all parties and work together.”

According to BN registration data, about 10,000 youths attended the event.

Also present at the event was BN Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan, MCA president Wee Ka Siong and MIC president S.A. Vigneswaran. – September 17, 2022.
