Malaysia logs 1,977 new Covid cases, 6 deaths

MALAYSIA recorded a dip in new Covid-19 cases yesterday, registering 1,977 new infections, compared to 2,275 a day earlier.

According to the CovidNow website, the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,815,679.

Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday, at 492, followed by Kuala Lumpur (405) and Sabah (187).

Perak logged 175 new cases, Negri Sembilan (84), Johor (61), Sarawak (115), Malacca (83), Penang (100), Putrajaya (36), Kedah (57), Pahang (47), Terengganu (40), Kelantan (76), Perlis (17) and Labuan (2).

The Health Ministry also reported six Covid-19 deaths yesterday with two classified dead-on-arrival cases, bringing the total to 36,305.

The fatalities were in Kedah and Perak (two each) and Sabah and Selangor (one each).

The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units stood at 60, of which 41 required respiratory support. – September 17, 2022.
