SOME Umno leaders are working with PAS leaders to create a new pact among Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) after the 15th general election, Nur Jazlan Mohamad has claimed.
The Johor Umno deputy chief said this group was trying to weaken Umno from within by trying to influence the Umno and BN leadership to accept PN as a political partner in the future.
“They are also willing to accept Umno frogs who jumped to Bersatu for a reverse takeover of BN.
“These actions of certain people in Umno are detrimental to the party, going as far as Borneo for power and self-interest,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Nur Jazlan said GPS was not interested in such a coalition as they were smart and knew that such a back-door pact would not bring about a stable government.
“I heard that GPS has rejected (them)... I think the people of Sarawak are happy with the Pan Borneo Highway… People don’t need a ‘Trans PN-BN-Borneo’ coalition because they are happy with the GPS administration,” he said in the post.
He said these moves by the group in Umno with PAS showed they are willing to betray their own party struggles to retain their power, positions and titles in Putrajaya.
The former Pulai lawmaker said the group is resorting to this move as they realised their position was shaky.
He said in recent weeks, some PAS leaders have been publicly declaring that they are holding informal talks with Umno leaders.
“Lately there seems to be a lot of polemics on Muafakat Nasional, especially from PAS who still haven’t come to the realisation that Umno has divorced them with ‘talak tiga’.
“PAS is a ‘spin master’, coming out with various statements claiming there were talks between the party and certain Umno leaders, which is totally false.
“As such, I would like to advise PAS to stop playing political victims as God will not hear their prayers as they were insincere,” said Nur Jazlan.
Nur Jazlan did not offer any evidence to back his claims. – September 16, 2022.
