PAS will continue to reject cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) as it is a coalition of “bribe takers and receivers”, Abdul Hadi Awang said today.

The president of the Islamist party, in a Facebook post, described PH as a group that is without moral compass.

“PAS rejects working with PH as it may destroy the country’s foundations and key branches,” Hadi said in the post.

He also accused PH of being anti-Islam.

“In fact, in PH there are those who are clearly anti-Islam, threatening the institution of the sultans, the pillars of the country, and the foundations of the Federal Constitution, especially the status of Islam as the religion of the federation.

“In fact, there are also those who fanatically hate Malays and Bumiputeras without caring about the rights of other religions and the people of various races,” he said.

The Marang lawmaker, however, did not name any particular individuals or gave any proof to back his claims.

Hadi is not new to controversy. He recently said that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras were mostly responsible for the corruption in the country.

He is currently being investigated under section 505 (C) of the penal code for issuing statements likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons, and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or network services.

A total of 28 police reports were made over his remarks. – September 15, 2022.
