Pekan Umno's warning proof that party plans to disrupt my visit, says Dr Mahathir

PEKAN Umno’s warning to Dr Mahathir Mohamad not to visit Prime Minister Najib Razak’s constituency tomorrow is proof that the ruling Malay party is planning to cause chaos, said the Pakatan Harapan chairman.

“Umno leaders in Pekan have just admitted that they plan to cause trouble. But not others. Others are waiting for me to come.

“But now, Umno has said there will be a disturbance caused by Umno,” Dr Mahathir said at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today.

He was responding to Pekan Umno’s call that he cancel his visit to the parliamentary seat tomorrow as there was widespread dissatisfaction towards him there.

Dr Mahathir has programmes planned with Felda Chini settlers and the Orang Asli in the constituency as part of PH’s campaign in rural Malay areas ahead of the 14th general election.

He said he was unfazed by the threat, and would not cancel his visit.

“What is there for me to be scared of? They’re not going to bring any weapons, they are just talking,” said the nonagenarian, who recently spent a week in hospital for a chest infection.

Malaysiakini had reported that Pekan Umno had said voters in the constituency were unhappy with the former prime minister over the way he had treated Felda while he was in power.

Pekan Umno division chief Abdul Rahim Yahya said police had advised against Dr Mahathir’s visit being carried out as planned. – February 27, 2018.

  • Honestly speaking Umno is only good at dirty politics and threats but never for the past decades in administrating a country.We can do away with Umno for good. They are propped up by others doing the job for them . After their racism becomes too intensive we can see from the past 30 years , Malaysia was going south on with economic woes with lots of fraud datas and indices. Most of the nons was sent packing with the NEP and privatisation but they survive in other countries doing their ususal business. Every handed out business to the Malays becomes a failure due to corruptions and their self serving nature. Now their actions and every moves are out of sheer desperation to survive and prolong their power craziness to sustain their existence and out of jail.
