NAJIB Razak must remain in Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) to receive treatment as he is a prisoner, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

Khairy said this was the procedure when it came to dealing with those who were incarcerated.

“I have contacted the director of HKL, Dr Rohana Johan, who informed me that Najib is in stable condition,” he told reporters during the Malaysia Book of Records awards ceremony and launch of the Record Breaking Covid-19 Vaccination: Public-Private Partnership report.

“As I don’t want any dispute after this, I have asked HKL and the Deputy Director-General of Medicine, Dr Asmayani Khalib, to provide the follow-up treatment that Najib requires.

“Once the tests on Najib are completed, the report will be given to Najib and the court, so there will be no more dispute after this.”

Khairy also denied that Najib would be transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further treatment.

Najib’s 1MDB trial before Judge Colin Lawrence Sequerah at the Kuala Lumpur High Court was vacated this morning as the latter was hospitalised at HKL.

His lawyer, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah also revealed that Najib would be transferred to IJN later today for further checks.

Sequerah then halted proceedings for the day, while adding that the trial would resume at 2.30pm tomorrow with an update on Najib’s condition.

Shafee subsequently told reporters that Najib was experiencing unexplained fluctuations in blood pressure.

Najib’s trial yesterday was also adjourned as senior deputy public prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram relayed a message from the Prisons Department that Najib’s condition was “quite bad”.

On the medication, Khairy said that Najib was given a generic high blood pressure medication similar in formula to the one he had been taking previously.

“He used to purchase his medication from a private hospital. When he was admitted to HKL (last Friday), we gave him medication that government hospitals give.

“The medicine is the same, the formula is the same. The shape is just generic,” Khairy said. – September 13, 2022.

  • well done Khairy. Certainly Najib is just another prisoner and cannot be accorded VIP treatment at IJN. His lawyer seems to be planning everything for him so that he can stay away from jail. Najib has still not accepted the reality that he is a common convicted criminal who must spend his time in jail. Having had a good life all the way, he is like butter melting under a little heat. But he has to take the heat because he has earned it through his criminal conduct, causing generations to be in debts for decades and also jeopardizing the country's future and security. Najib had better accept the fact that he will be in prison for a long long time as there are so many pending cases against him, all strong cases where he is most likely going to be convicted. This Najib and his lawyers have played so much games now that nobody sane will believe that they are also not playing another game now
