Kamarul takes another swipe at DAP

TWISTING facts and using rhetorical arguments, Universiti Utara Malaysia lecturer Dr Kamarul Yusuf has widened his attacks on DAP by linking personal beliefs to the party’s agenda.

Similar to some of Umno’s allegations that DAP is out to “Christianise” the country, Kamarul used erroneous examples to link the party to a “Christainisation agenda”.

He cited DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh and Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming’s faiths to back his argument that DAP has a hidden agenda.

“As an avid reader, I read that Lim Guan Eng had confessed to being a Christian in an interview entitled ‘Lim Guan Eng: The Prison to Parliament Leader’ in the book ‘Heart to Heart with Asian Leaders: Exclusive Interviews on Crisis, Comebacks & Character,’” Kamarul wrote on his Facebook page. The post was published on PAS’ website harakahdaily.net today.

“Equally interesting is he (Guan Eng) mentioned two other DAP leaders he relied on when he strategised – Tony Pua (Petaling Jaya Utara MP) and Anthony Loke (Seremban MP). These two are DAP leaders who are Christians,” he added.

A check, however, showed that neither Loke nor Pua are Christians.

The controversial academic went on to say that Lim Kit Siang had said there was no Christian agenda in DAP or by any of its MPs.

“But till now, no DAP leader has denied Hannah Yeoh’s confession that she goes to church, has urged Christians to help build Malaysia as God wants to reclaim politics and public service in Malaysia and her ambitions to bring her faith to the whole world.

“This is an example of a Christian agenda,” he charged.

The academic also referred to a post dated Feb 4, 2014 on Ong’s Facebook page that said he went to a church in SIBKL and said “we have been praying for a Christian revival to take place in our country”.

However, a check on Ong’s Facebook account showed that the post was a reproduced entry of then minister Idris Jala’s take on the 10-point agreement with Prime Minister Najib Razak before the 2011 Sarawak state election and not Ong’s personal experience in SIBKL.

“How can Ong fight for a secular agenda when he’s not a secularist,” said Kamarul.

The UUM lecturer went on to ask how Kit Siang could separate the Christian agenda from DAP’s when Yeoh’s autobiography “Becoming Hannah” was launched by Guan Eng on Jan 10, 2015.

“How can Kit Siang say he’s not a Christian or there’s no Christian agenda in DAP when the more powerful secretary-general Guan Eng is one,” he asked.

Kamarul came into the limelight recently when he used Yeoh’s autobiography to attack DAP. He also lodged a police report against her for using her book to allegedly proselytise to Muslims.

“All her stories have inadvertently inspired her readers, including me, to be awed by her god,” said Kamarul. – May 30, 2017

My,my, now this fellow admits that he holds her GOD in awe and I take it his belief in his God is weak. When one's foundation in one's religion is strong one will not be swayed by another's religion. Learning one's religion parrot fashion leads wrong understanding and this behaviour
