PRIME Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has appointed three people, including former chief justice Md Raus Sharif, to the Judicial Appointments Commission for a period of two years.
The two other new members of the commission are former state attorney-general Abdul Razal Tready and International Islamic University Malaysia associate law professor Dr Shamrahayu Ab Aziz.
The office of the secretary of the Judicial Appointments Commission said the appointments are in accordance with subsection 5(1)(f) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009 (Act 695).
“The appointment for two years from Sept 4, 2022, to Sept 3, 2024, to replace Datuk Dr Prasad Sandosham Abraham, Datuk Stephen Chung Hian Guan and Associate Professor Datuk Dr Johan Shamsuddin Sabaruddin who ended their service on Sept 3,” it said in a statement.
Former Federal Court judge Suriyadi Halim Omar was re-appointed to the commission.
“The Commission expresses its appreciation and gratitude for the services of Datuk Dr Prasad, Datuk Stephen Chung and Datuk Dr Johan Shamsuddin,” the statement added. – Bernama, September 6, 2022.
