THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been in contact with Kuwaiti authorities over the past two years investigating individuals linked to the misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

In a statement, the anti-graft body said that it is currently probing into several individuals based abroad.

“MACC is waiting for information from the authorities in Kuwait,” it said.

The statement from MACC today came after it was criticised for not working with Kuwait to investigate the matter after the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.

MACC said it was focused on recovering assets and funds related to 1MDB, while noting that investigations involving the cooperation of foreign authorities was complex.

Recently, Sarawak Report published a report saying that a court case would be opened on September 13 relating to frozen cash allegedly hidden in the Gulf state. – September 4, 2022.
