PAS is showing its lack of confidence in Muhyiddin Yassin after the party reiterated that Muafakat Nasional (MN) still exists despite Umno’s clear refusal to cooperate, Salahuddin Ayub said.
The Amanah deputy president was referring to Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s statement that PAS had never declared that its partnership with Umno under MN was over.
“It is an illusion for PAS and shows that the Islamist party is not confident with Muhyiddin,” said Salahuddin.
“This is also maybe because of what (PAS central committee member) Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki said – that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has higher chances of winning the next general election.”
At PAS youth wing’s annual congress in Kedah a few days ago, Tuan Ibrahim said the unifying platform of the Muslim community must be continued for the sake of the Malays, Islam and the future of the country.
“Our consultation saw a consensus within the framework of MN,” he said.
“I want to stress that MN has not been dissolved. Umno has not declared a dissolution, and neither has PAS.
“We need to maintain this platform for the interests of Islam and the Malays and the future of the country.”
Salahuddin said PAS only wants to stay in power and will do anything to cling on to it.
“PAS has no shame at all, even when the Umno president said PAS is not sincere to work under MN, after cooperating with Bersatu under Perikatan Nasional,” says the Pulai MP.
“That is why PAS has also said it is focusing on 27 seats, which it named as MN seats. This also shows that PAS is nothing but selfish.”
Salahuddin, a former PAS vice-president, said it would not be a surprise if PAS returns to tie up with Umno after the next general election, leaving Bersatu in the lurch.
“Will Bersatu allow itself to be used by PAS?
“It shows that PH is the best bet for the country to get rid of corruption and revive the economy,” he said. – September 3, 2022.
