ROSMAH Mansor has been sentenced to 10 years in jail and a fine of RM970 million (in default 10 years in jail), by the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.

Judge Mohamad Zaini Mazlan granted a stay of execution until Rosmah’s appeal is disposed of at the Court of Appeal.

Rosmah’s bail of RM2 million will be extended until the disposal of the appeal.

Rosmah was found guilty of all three corruption charges against her in relation to the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid trial.

She was charged with one count of soliciting RM187.5 million in gratification and two counts of receiving bribes totalling RM6.5 million from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd former managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin.

The bribes were allegedly received through her former aide Rizal Mansor as a reward for helping Jepak Holdings secure the Hybrid Photovoltaic Solar System Integrated Project, as well as the maintenance and operation of diesel generator sets for 369 rural Sarawak schools worth RM1.25 billion from the Education Ministry through direct negotiation.

Zaini sentenced Rosmah to 10 years in prison for each charge but ordered her sentence to run concurrently.

The judge said if Rosmah fails to pay the RM970 million fine, she will have to serve another 10 years in prison after completing her first 10-year sentence.

The prosecution did not object to Rosmah’s bid to suspend her sentence. – September 1, 2022.
