THE Public Service Department (PSD) is looking to standardise its scholarship rates for the overseas students it sponsors, said its director-general Mohd Shafiq Abdullah.
Shafiq said the PSD is in discussions with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) to review the rates and that a decision will be announced soon.
“We are still discussing the possibility for PSD scholarship rates for overseas students, such as in the United Kingdom, to be standardised with those of Mara. There are Mara-sponsored students too. So we will standardise the rates and announce it soon,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
Yesterday, Special Task Force on Jihad Against Inflation chairman Annuar Musa said the cabinet had agreed to approve the review of scholarship rates under the Rural Development Ministry, especially Mara, fordomestic and overseas students.
He said the government also took note of other government-related scholarships, including the PSD, to ensure the increase in scholarship rates was in line with the rise in the rate of inflation. – Bernama, August 31, 2022.
