2,191 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

MALAYSIA registered 2,191 new Covid-19 cases and two fatalities linked to the virus yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.

Both deaths were in Perak.

The national caseload is now at 4,776,194 while the latest fatalities bring the toll to 36,198.

Selangor registered the highest number of cases, at 720, followed by Kuala Lumpur (398) and Sabah (212).

Perak posted 180 cases, Negri Sembilan (119), Johor (87), Penang (83), Malacca (79), Kedah (78), Sarawak (54), Kelantan (53), Pahang (48), Terengganu (48), Putrajaya (20), Perlis (8) and Labuan (4).

Active cases dropped further to 32,901 yesterday as 3,796 people recovered from the disease.

Among active cases, 31,527 (95.8%) were in home quarantine, 19 (0.1%) at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres and 1,282 (4.1%) in hospitals.

There were 73 patients in the intensive care units, 48 of whom required respiratory assistance. – August 29, 2022.
