MORE police reports have been lodged against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang who last week accused non-Muslims of causing corruption in the country.

Global Human Rights Federation president S Shashi Kumar said it had been eight days since Hadi made the accusation but no action had yet to be taken against the Marang MP.

“In today’s report, we demand for action to be taken against Hadi as stipulated by Malaysian law under the Sedition Act.

“We urge the police not to apply double standards just because he is a leader of an Islamic party, as all persons are equal before the law as guaranteed by Article 8 of the Federal Constitution,” said Shashi Kumar in a statement.

Shashi Kumar, who lodged the report at the Sentul district police station, said no one including Hadi, is above the law.

“The PAS president and PAS itself are a threat to the peaceful co-existence of multiracial, multicultural, and multireligious Malaysia,” he said.

Earlier today, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng questioned whether the police would ever act against Hadi.

The former finance minister said a multitude of police reports had been filed against Hadi throughout the country but the authorities had yet to take any action.

Hadi came under fire last week after he said that most perpetrators of corruption in Malaysia were non-Muslim and non-Bumiputera. He said only Muslims had integrity.

Lim had branded Hadi a racist opposed to racial unity.

Lim urged Malaysians not to be fooled by Hadi’s rhetoric that preached hate against minorities.

On August 20, Hadi took to Facebook and blamed Malays for being apathetic to voting, resulting in non-Malays and “liberals” gaining control of the country’s political power in the last general election.

DAP had also lodged a police report against Hadi.

Yesterday, several groups in Sarawak filed a police report against Hadi. They were the Sarawak Association for People’s Aspirations, Dayak Bukit Kelinkang, Persatuan Adat Asal Bidoyoh Sarawak, Sarawak Dayak Association, and SMETAP Society.

Meanwhile, Shashi Kumar also took PAS youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari to task for only going against the continuous holding of concerts in Malaysia.

“Any effort by PAS to stop such concerts would go against the freedom of others to attend,” he added. – August 28, 2022.
