PARTI Kuasa Rakyat (Kuasa) will now work with Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) to face the 15th general election (GE15), said its president Kamarazaman Yaakob.
He said both parties shared the same principles and would be a government-friendly coalition.
“Kuasa is friendly to BN (Barisan Nasional) and today’s coalition government.
“By combining efforts, we will have renewed strength and can be seen as a major force in national politics,” he said in a press conference in Kota Kinabalu today.
Speaking further, Kamarazaman said his party would merge with PBM into one party but the matter would be decided at the PBM annual general meeting on October 1.
“So, for now, we will not be disbanding our party,” he said.
Ten months ago, Kamarazaman announced the formation of Kuasa saying his party would not be able to realise its aim if they chose to be in the opposition.
Kamarazaman is the older brother to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also Umno vice president.
He was president of the Universiti Malaya Student Union from 1973 to 1974.
Kamarazaman was one of the student leaders who participated in the Baling demonstration in 1974 to protest against declining rubber prices and was later detained under the now defunct ISA together with Anwar Ibrahim. – August 28, 2022.
