MALAYSIA recorded a drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases yesterday to 2,491 from 3,118 a day earlier. 

According to the CovidNow website, the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic stood at 4,774,003. 

Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday, at 656, followed by Kuala Lumpur (507) and Sabah (234).

Perak logged 211 new cases, Negri Sembilan (157), Johor (71), Sarawak (115), Malacca (109), Penang (100), Putrajaya (61), Kedah (78), Pahang (80), Terengganu (40), Kelantan (57), Perlis (5) and Labuan (10). 

The Health Ministry also reported five Covid-19 deaths yesterday with one classified as dead on arrival, bringing the total number of fatalities to 36,196.

The cases were reported in Selangor (2), Kuala Lumpur (2) and Sarawak (1). 

The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units stood at 72, of which 49 required respiratory support. – August 28, 2022.
