MUHYIDDIN Yassin today defended his tenure as the prime minister, saying he was not corrupt and had instead worked hard to ensure money was made available for the people.

On the other hand, he said the Umno-led government today was working to enrich themselves and their supporters.

“Just for comparison, I recently saw a video that went viral about the Barisan Nasional chairman’s speech at the Selangor BN convention. He gave instructions to the finance minister – ‘don’t take advantage, but take what you can!’

“He said this seriously and was met with laughter by the audience, as if everyone present understood what he meant.

“This is the difference between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and BN. I instructed the finance minister to find money to give to the people who are in need, the BN chairman instructed the finance minister to use what is available as long as possible for the benefit of their lot.

“Yes, I understand what he means and I think my brothers and sisters also understand what it means, I don’t need to explain,” said Muhyiddin whose prime ministership ended when Umno pulled support for him, resulting in Ismail Sabri Yaakob being appointed.

The Bersatu president said this while delivering a speech at the PN convention in Serdang in conjunction with the second anniversary of the political coalition.

Muhyiddin stressed that during his 17 months of administration, more than half of RM1 trillion was spent on economic stimulus packages and people’s welfare assistance, considering the country was in health and economic crises due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.

At that time, he said, the PN government was able to channel eight packages of economic stimulus and assistance to the people worth RM530 billion.

“This is the largest public assistance package in the history of our country,” said the Pagoh lawmaker.

He added that in the next general election, voters should be wise choosing between PN and BN.

“Even though PN and BN’s names and logos are quite similar, after the polls I hope we change everything.

“The difference is as far as heaven and earth. I hope the voters do not make the wrong choice in the 15th general election. Vote for PN, not BN,” Muhyiddin said. – August 27, 2022.
