OPPOSITION leader Anwar Ibrahim has criticised certain leaders for celebrating former prime minister Najib Razak’s imprisonment.

The PKR president said he found it strange when “some” leaders, whom he found to be equally corrupt, rejoiced in Najib’s sentencing.

“If we look at the reactions to Najib’s sentencing, I see leaders who are equally corrupt saying “that’s good”.

“I find it weird,” the Port Dickson MP told reporters today.

Anwar said that corruption was not exclusive to a single person and claimed that others were worth investigating.

Anwar did not mention any names but said it was an open secret that some had accumulated billions of ringgit of wealth.

He said it was also revealed in the Pandora and Panama papers.

“Don’t think you can be saved just because you talk as if you are not corrupted,” he said.

On Tuesday, Najib was sent to Kajang Prison after the Federal Court quashed his appeal and upheld his sentence in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case. – August 25, 2022.
