PENANG police are tracking a man they believe is behind a robbery of chip casings worth more than RM4 million from a factory in Bukit Tengah, Bukit Mertajam, on July 5.

The man in his 30s is believed to have broken into the storeroom with several other men before fleeing with 16 boxes of chip casings.

The incident is believed to have happened at 11pm, when a group of men tied up two security guards before breaking into the storeroom and escaping with the boxes.

Seberang Prai Tengah (SPT) police chief Tan Cheng San said police arrested seven men, ages 24-60, including two security guards, to facilitate investigations. 

All seven are now out on police bail, he added. 

Tan said the suspect is believed to have fled with the loot, which police believe is to be sold overseas. – Bernama, August 25, 2022.
