UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will hold a special briefing with party leaders on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur.

Taking the matter to a Twitter party, secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said the briefing is to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, at 2pm.

“Standby, jemputan rasmi akan dibuat (Standby, the official invite will be sent shortly),” he said on Twitter.

Ahmad added that leaders attending the meeting must don the party’s official red attire.

It is being speculated that the briefing would touch on former Umno president Najib Razak’s imprisonment after being found guilty in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

A day before Najib was sent to prison, some 97 Umno division leaders met with Zahid at the Umno building.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is Umno vice-president, did not attend.

The Federal Court in a unanimous decision yesterday affirmed the guilty verdict on Najib by the High Court, which was also upheld by the Court of Appeal.

He is now serving his 12-year jail sentence and has to pay a RM210 million fine. – August 24, 2022.
