NAJIB Razak has thanked his family for their support over the last four decades, which at times resulted in him not being there for them.

The jailed former prime minister said he had dedicated his life to the people, public service and politics.

“A sacrifice I chose and I made. A journey that was joyous with your presence, but unfortunately, I overlooked and could not always be there for you,” he said in a letter that he left on his desk, which his family posted on his Facebook page this evening.

The Pekan MP said he had elected to continue his father Abdul Razak Hussein’s legacy over the last 46 years.

“My family. My love. Daddy can be with all you only until today. Daddy holds fast to the teachings of Islam,” he said in the post.

“If this is fated and tested by Allah, who am I as a human being and His servant.

“I’ll wait for justice and judgment in the hereafter.

“Our life in this world is temporary. We will be resurrected in the hereafter. I hope we will be happily together again.

“May Allah protect and bless our family always with long lasting health and well-being.

“Love you all. Daddy.”

The Federal Court today upheld the conviction and 12 years’ jail sentence and RM210 million fine on Najib for misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.

A five-member bench, led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, dismissed his appeal to set aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 28, 2020.

Najib, 69, had on December 8 last year failed to overturn the ruling at the Court of Appeal. – August 23, 2022.
