Ex-Kelantan deputy MB dies

FORMER Kelantan deputy menteri besar Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, died at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Baru at 3.40pm today at age 82. 

Halim’s daughter Ahlaami, when contacted by Bernama, said her father died of a lung infection. 

“God willing, the funeral prayers will be held at the Banggol mosque tonight, before the burial at the Banggol Muslim Cemetery after ishak prayers,” she said. 

Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said the late Halim was Kelantan deputy menteri besar from 1990 until 2004. 

He said Halim made great contributions to Kelantan and was an important figure in the state government under its Developing with Islam policy. 

“The late Halim also served as a people’s representative, starting as an assemblyman for Banggol from 1986 to 1995. 

“He was also Kijang assemblyman from 1995 to 2004, in addition to holding the position of Pengkalan Chepa MP from 2004 to 2013, and was also former treasurer of PAS Pusat,” he said in a Facebook post today. 

Ahmad said the state government conveys its deepest condolences to Halim’s family, and hopes God showers mercy and forgiveness on his soul and places him among the righteous. – Bernama, August 22, 2022.
