BN fine-tuning applications of 6 parties, says Zambry

THE applications by six parties to become Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties is being fine-tuned by the coalition’s secretariat.

BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir said the matter was discussed at the BN supreme council meeting tonight.

“The supreme council would like to express its appreciation and thanks to the parties for their interest and readiness to come together with BN,” he told reporters after attending the BN supreme council meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur tonight.

The meeting was chaired by BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi with BN deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan, vice-chairmen Wee Ka Siong, S. Vigneswaran and Arthur Joseph Kurup in attendance. 

MIC representative M. Saravanan, Umno representatives Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Mahdzir Khalid as well as MCA representative Senator Mah Hang Soon were also present.

Zambry said the supreme council also agreed to establish BN Puteri to coordinate women youth movements of all component parties, with Umno Puteri chief Zahida Zarik Khan appointed as its chief.

He also said that the supreme council decided to extend Hishammuddin Tun Hussein’s appointment as BN treasurer-general for another two years.

Hishammuddin, who is also Sembrong MP, was appointed to the post on October 23, 2020, replacing Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. – Bernama, August 15, 2022.
