BERSATU information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan has accused Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob of lying about his supposed meeting with Perikatan Nasional representatives.

In a statement today, Wan Saiful described Ismail’s recent statement that he had met with PN leaders as distasteful, adding that what had happened was just a brief and unofficial lunch meeting.

He urged the Umno vice president to explain to the people why he didn’t tell the truth.

“If there was no formal meeting just say so. Even if you are Umno, don’t lie. PN official representatives are Hamzah Zainuddin, Takiyuddin Hassan, Azmin Ali and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.”

“If the meeting was over lunch, that was not an official meeting. For me, Ismail lied and was not respectful. He needs to tell the media and the people,” he said.

On Saturday Ismail said that he had met with PN representatives two weeks ago.

He said the meeting took place during the final week of the Dewan Rakyat session at the Parliament, and was attended by PN secretary-general Hamzah and PN treasurer Ahmad Samsuri.

“There has already been a meeting. Bersatu presented their views and I presented mine, so that’s about it,” the PM had said.

The meeting between PN representatives and the PM was to discuss supposed political arrangements between them, including the appointment of a deputy prime minister from Bersatu.
It was reported previously that Ismail had called off a scheduled meeting at the last minute

Wan Saiful said that when Muhyiddin Yassin was the prime minister, the Pagoh MP met with party leaders during formal meetings and not over lunch.

“What is Ismail afraid of? Is he afraid of meeting up with party allies or does he want to hide something from PN,” he asked. – August 15, 2022.
