THE marketability of graduates from technical education and vocational training (TVET) institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development has exceeded the national standard, according to Rural Development Minister Mahdzir Khalid.

He said the average graduate employability rate for all ministry education institutions has now reached 87.7%, while the key performance indicator for this sector was 86.7% by 2025.

“The marketability exceeding the national standard indirectly reflects that the TVET education we offer is able to provide employability and a bright career path for the graduates,” he said during the question-and-answer session at the Dewan Negara today in reply to Senator Azhar Ahmad.

Mahdzir said that high-level TVET students are equipped with internationally recognised professional licences that enable them to get jobs globally.

In addition, he said the TVET institutions are also actively applying Industrial Revolution 4.0 practices.

He stated that 280 institutions offer 515 programmes or courses in 15 skill clusters. – Bernama, August 15, 2022.
