MOH reports 4,334 new Covid-19 cases,

MALAYSIA posted 4,334 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, taking the cumulative number of cases since the onset of the pandemic to 4.73 million. 

Selangor logged the highest number of cases (1,830), followed by Kuala Lumpur (829), Sabah (328), Perak (284), Malacca (167), Sarawak (152), Penang (134), Negri Sembilan (119), Putrajaya (104), Kedah (101), Johor (82), Pahang (74), Kelantan (64), Terengganu (44), Perlis (13) and Labuan (9). 

Active cases dropped to 44,617 yesterday, with 5,082 people making a recovery.

Among the active cases, 42,926 (96.2%) were in home quarantine, 28 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,595 (3.7%) in hospitals.

Ten deaths due to the disease were also registered, of which one was classified as dead on arrival (DOA). 

According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, there were 10 deaths, one of which was pronounced dead on arrival.

Five deaths were reported in Johor, two in Perak, and one each in Penang, Sarawak and Selangor.

The sole DOA case was reported in Perak. 

The national death toll now stands at 36,080, of which 7,669 were DOA cases. 

There were 68 patients in intensive care, 44 of whom required respiratory assistance. – August 14, 2022.
