MENARA Alor Setar launched two new attraction Dropzone & Snap-Sky today which is expected to draw extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the country.

Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ainol Shaharina Sahar said since the start of its operations in April, the response to both attractions has been encouraging especially from fans of extreme sports who want to challenge themselves and get an adrenaline rush.

“For the Dropzone activity, participants will be taken to the release point at a height of 105 metres using a safety harness. Participants can then enjoy the view of the city (Alor Setar) while being suspended in the air before descending on the tower square.

“For the Snap-Sky activity, participants can walk and sit on the platform while taking pictures. They do not need to worry because a total of 10 trained people from the Kedah Climbing Sports Association will take care of their safety,” she said after the opening ceremony of Dropzone & Snap-Sky at Menara Alor Setar today.

She said people who are interested in trying this activity can come and buy tickets at the tower’s counter which operates from 10am to 10pm.

“Participants can choose to do this activity in the mornings or nights but it will depend on weather conditions. For example, the activities will not be held for safety reasons if it rains. Those who wish to try these activities also must be over 90 centimetres tall.

“In conjunction with Menara Alor Setar’s 25th anniversary, the tower authorities are offering a special price for Malaysian citizens until August 31. For Dropzone, the promotional price is RM99 compared to the original price of RM129 while Snap-Sky’s promotional price is RM25 compared to the original price of RM30,” she said.

Ainon Shaharina said since April, a total of 120 people have tried both activities and the target number of participants for these new featured activities is expected to continue to increase.

“We are targetting as many as 150 people who will want to try these extreme sports every month. This is the time for those interested individuals to come and try for themselves and test their mental and physical abilities as well as overcome their feelings of dread and fear,” she added. – Bernama, August 13, 2022.
