MALAYSIA logged 4,831 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, a slight dip from the 4,896 cases reported the day before.
The new infections take the number of total infections in Malaysia to 4,724,225 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The CovidNow website showed 10 people died of the disease yesterday, two of whom were dead on arrival (DOA).
Four of the deaths took place in Johor, two in Malacca and one each in Negri Sembilan, Perak, Sarawak and Selangor.
Malacca and Negri Sembilan accounted for one DOA case each.
The death toll stood at 36,066, of which 7,667 were DOA.
Selangor registered the most number of new cases yesterday with 1,673, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,012) and Sabah (360).
Other states and territories that reported new case are Perak (356), Negri Sembilan (316), Penang (210), Malacca (155), Johor (144), Putrajaya (141), Kedah (124), Sarawak (115), Pahang (79), Kelantan (75), Terengganu (46), Labuan (19) and Perlis (6).
Active cases increased to 46,081 yesterday as 3,362 people recovered from the disease.
Among the active cases, 44,404 (96.4%) were in home quarantine, 33 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,584 (3.5%) in hospitals.
There were 60 patients in intensive care, 40 of whom required respiratory assistance. β August 12, 2022.
