THE first instalment of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) will be disbursed on Monday, said Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
“The money will help to reduce the burden of the cost of living of low-income earners,” The Star reported him as saying.
Irwan said the 2018 BR1M will be launched on a national level by Prime Minister Najib Razak tomorrow.
“It will also have a multiplier effect on the economy, as people will use the money they receive on goods and help stimulate the economy,” said Irwan.
He said this after the launch of the Bumiputra Entrepreneurship Programme (Eastern Edition) 2018 in Kuantan today.
Last year, 7.2 million recipients received BR1M amounting to RM6.3 billion. Irwan said a slight increase in the figures was expected this year. – February 24, 2018.
