THE scantily clad person who appeared at the 2022 Kedah Fashion Week was not an invited participant, Mohd Hayati Othman said.

“The person is a transgender who pretends to be a model by wearing inappropriate attire and then takes pictures to be uploaded on social media,” said the Kedah executive councillor for health and local government. 

He said the person only uploaded the pictures after the fashion week was over. 

“As such, the state government will take action according to the law,” he said. 

“The state government will also review the regulations on entertainment in Kedah.”

Earlier, the state authorities had warned that stern action would be taken against the organisers of the 2022 Kedah Fashion Week for allegedly featuring a scantily clad model.

In several photos that have gone viral on social media, the person had an unbuttoned green blazer on and what looked like no undergarment inside.

Hayati had said the authorities would also summon the event organisers for an explanation for the fashion faux pas.

He said based on checks, the organisers did not obtain a permit to hold such an event, which requires approval from the local authorities.

The photos were allegedly taken during the event held at a shopping mall in Alor Star from August 5-7.

On August 4, Hayati had advised the organisers to obtain approval and adhere to rules and requirements set by the Kota Setar district office. – August 10, 2022.
