3,083 new Covid cases, 12 deaths

MALAYSIA reported 3,083 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the total number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4,714,498. 

The CovidNow website showed 12 more people died of infection yesterday, three of which were declared dead on arrival. 

Malacca and Perak each logged three deaths, Selangor two, and Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Sarawak and Terengganu one each. 

The death toll stood at 36,044. 

Kuala Lumpur logged the most number of new infections with 773, followed by Selangor (605) and Sabah (285). 

Perak reported 248 cases, Negri Sembilan (240), Kedah (160), Malacca (130), Sarawak (122), Penang (117), Johor (96), Putrajaya (83), Kelantan (80), Terengganu (65), Pahang (59), Perlis (10) and Labuan (10). 

Active cases declined to 42,717 yesterday as 4,229 people recovered from the disease.

Among the active cases, 41,042 (96.1%) were in home quarantine, 35 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,578 (3.8%) in hospitals.

There were 62 patients in intensive care, 35 of whom required respiratory assistance. – August 10, 2022.
