Malaysia logs 4,684 Covid cases, 11 deaths

Covid-19 continues to linger in Malaysia and elsewhere in the world, including in China, which sporadic lockdowns are causing supply chain disruptions across the globe. – EPA pic, August 5, 2022.

COVID-19 cases continued to fluctuate, spiking to 4,684 yesterday compared to 3,927 the day before.

The CovidNow website showed that there were 11 deaths, one of which was dead on arrival.

Johor and Selangor each reported five deaths, and Penang, one.

Active cases stood at 46,904 and the death toll, at 36,020.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 2,164, followed by Kuala Lumpur (887) and Perak (289).

Sabah reported 267 cases, Negri Sembilan (204), Penang (197), Malacca (142), Johor (123), Kedah (87), Sarawak (84), Pahang (81), Putrajaya (62), Kelantan (51), Terengganu (24), Perlis (12) and Labuan (10).

There are 1,556 Covid-19 hospitalisations, 21 of them in intensive care, and 35 on ventilators. – August 7, 2022.
