A 35-MEMBER delegation from Perlis, including from the State Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), department heads and media members are on a three-day visit to Phuket, Thailand.

MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the visit aimed at forging closer relations with the Muslim community there through smart partnerships in various fields, such as religious development, economy, social, education and culture.

He said this was in line with the philosophy in the establishment of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT).

“MAIPs has long collaborated with the six Andaman Provinces in Southern Thailand of Krabi, Ranong, Phuket, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun.  We (MAIPs) share with them expertise in zakat and halal management,” he told reporters in Satun.

The delegates are travelling by bus to Phuket and will make several stops along the way, including Satun and in Krabi. – Bernama, August 5, 2022.
