MALAYSIA’S tallest tower – Merdeka 118 – reached 92% completion last month, with more than 2,500 workers still on site to finish the mammoth project.

The seven-storey 118 Mall will have to be ready too, before both buildings are open for business, PNB Merdeka Ventures chief executive Tengku Abdul Aziz Tengku Mahmud told visiting journalists this week.

The media were given a tour of the viewing deck on Level 116 and also an office floor on Level 21.

The development, in 20 acres of land neighbouring Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara, will also include three residential towers, a mosque and a linear garden.

There will be seven entrances and exits for the tower, which will have 8,100 parking bays and will be serviced by three major commuter train stations.

A 17-storey Park Hyatt hotel will be on floors 98 to 112 of the tower, designed as a silhouette of founding prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman raising his hand when declaring independence at Stadium Merdeka in 1957. – August 4, 2022.
