Dewan Rakyat to discuss Tasik Chini conservation, personal data breach

THE conservation of Tasik Chini in Pahang and personal data breaches will be among the focus on the last day of the current Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to the Order Paper, Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan-PH) will ask the energy and natural resources minister on how the government plans to treat and restore the Tasik Chini area so it won’t be stripped of its status by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

There will also be a question from Shaharizukirnain Abd Kadir (Setiu-PN) to the communications and multimedia minister on the ministry’s plan to amend several clauses in the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 to deal with cybercrimes that have led to more than 100 million cases of data breach.

Meanwhile, during the question and answer session, Lukanisman Awang Sauni (Sibuti-GPS) will ask the communications about the status of providing tablets under the PerantiSiswa programme, and the latest information on the number of tablets that will be distributed to students from the B40 group.

In addition, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir (Johor Baru-PH) will ask the higher education minister on the government’s initiative to help students who dropped out and were unable to continue their studies, or had to postpone their studies due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Penal Code (Amendment) Bill 2022 is also expected to be tabled for first reading, followed by the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2022, also for first reading.
