THE likelihood of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) customer rebates following the power outage across states in Peninsular Malaysia on Wednesday will be subject to a thorough investigation, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Takiyuddin Hassan said today.
According to Takiyuddin, the investigation – carried out by the Energy Commission (ST) and TNB – will take a month to complete.
He said, besides ascertaining the cause and effect of the outage, the investigation will also determine whether TNB complied with its guaranteed service level.
“...the next step will involve the basis for determining if the affected customers are eligible for a rebate,” he said in a statement today.
In the incident, about 1 million properties across Peninsular Malaysia were reportedly affected following a power outage that started at 12.39pm.
It reportedly took between 20 minutes, and two hours and 21 minutes to restore power. – Bernama, July 31, 2022.
