MALAYSIA recorded a spike in new Covid-19 cases yesterday to 4,860 from 3,926 a day earlier.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, the cumulative number of infections since the start of the pandemic stood at 4,672,999.
Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday, at 1,649, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,466) and Sabah (292).
Perak logged 272 new cases, Negri Sembilan (195), Johor (95), Sarawak (94), Malacca (112), Penang (246), Putrajaya (95), Kedah (150), Pahang (73), Terengganu (21), Kelantan (64) and Perlis (6) and Labuan (30).
The Health Ministry also reported 10 Covid-19 deaths yesterday with one classified as “dead on arrival”, bringing the total number of fatalities to 35,956.
The cases were reported in Selangor (5), Johor (2), Kedah (2) and Sabah (1).
The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units stood at 60, of which 34 required respiratory support. – July 30, 2022.
