4,503 new Covid-19 infections, 10 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 4,503 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.

The CovidNow website shows that of the 10 deaths, four were dead-on-arrival cases.

The new figures bring the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 4,664,213 while 35,942 people have succumbed to the virus.

Active cases now stand at 46,906.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections, at 1,706, followed by Kuala Lumpur (989) and Perak (306).

Penang reported 265 cases, Sabah (238), Negri Sembilan (173), Malacca (171), Kedah (159), Johor (120), Putrajaya (100), Sarawak (81), Pahang (74), Kelantan (62), Terengganu (42), Labuan (11) and Perlis (6).

The GitHub database shows that Perak reported the highest number of fatalities, at five.

Selangor reported three deaths while Pahang and Penang logged one death each.

There are currently 1,505 Covid-19 patients in hospital with 29 of them in the intensive care unit. – July 28, 2022.
