MALAYSIA yesterday reported 5,685 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily number in three months.

It is a huge jump from the 3,902 registered cases the day before.

Selangor accounted for most of yesterday’s cases with 2,024, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,834) and Perak (357).

Sabah saw 279 new cases, Negri Sembilan (230), Penang (205), Malacca (147), Johor (126), Kedah (126), Putrajaya (92), Sarawak (85), Pahang (63), Kelantan (53), Terengganu (41), Labuan (15), and Perlis (8).

Eight more people died of the coronavirus yesterday, five of whom were dead on arrival.

The deaths were reported in Perak (2), Selangor (2), Kuala Lumpur (2), Johor (1) and Malacca (1).

The death toll stood at 35,878

Fifty-six of infected people were in intensive care. – July 21, 2022.
