MALAYSIA recorded 5,230 new Covid-19 cases yesterday – the first time the figure passed the 5,000-mark in three months – bringing the cumulative number of infections to 4,613,998.
The last time cases surpassed the 5,000-mark was in April.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, of the 5,230 new infections yesterday, 11 were imported.
Malaysia also logged eight deaths yesterday with one “dead on arrival”, bringing the total number of fatalities to 35,844.
Selangor recorded the highest death toll yesterday at three deaths, followed by Malacca (2), Perak (1), Sabah (1) and Terengganu (1).
Meanwhile, 1,411 patients were hospitalised with 64 placed in the intensive care unit.
The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (184), followed by Johor (81) and Sabah (78). – July 16, 2022.
