MALAYSIA’S daily Covid-19 case count rose above the 3,000 mark with 3,264 fresh infections reported yesterday, compared with 2,799 the day before, the Health Ministry said.
The CovidNow website also showed that there were two fatalities recorded in the country yesterday, one each in Selangor and Sarawak.
The new cases took the cumulative number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4.6 million, while death toll reached 35,811.
According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, Selangor posted the most number of new infections at 1,326 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (847) and Perak (230).
Sabah reported 208 cases, Penang (144), Negri Sembilan (131), Putrajaya (84), Johor (75), Malacca (62), Sarawak (47), Pahang (38), Kedah (37), Kelantan (14), Terengganu (12), Labuan (5) and Perlis (4).
Active cases increased to 35,882 yesterday, as 2,703 people recovered from the disease.
Among the active cases, 34,659 (96.6%) were in home quarantine, 24 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine centres and 1,156 (3.2%) in hospitals.
There were 43 patients in intensive care, 26 of whom required respiratory assistance. – July 11, 2022.
