Malaysia marks 3,589 new Covid cases, 6 deaths

MALAYSIA yesterday registered 3,589 new Covid-19 cases, after logging more than 4,000 daily infections the day before.

This took the total number of cases in the country since the start of the pandemic to 4,589,911.

Selangor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perak, Penang, and Sarawak each recorded one virus death as six more people died of infection. Two of them were dead on arrival.

The coronavirus has killed 35,801 people in Malaysia.

Three of yesterday’s 3,589 new cases were imported.

Active cases stood at 35,198, of which 96.3%, or 33,888, were in home quarantine.

Twenty-seven people, or 0.1%, were in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres and 1,241, or 3.5%, in intensive care.

Selangor saw the most hospital admissions yesterday at 172, followed by Johor (99) and Sabah (76).

The CovidNow portal showed 2,224 people recovered from the virus yesterday. – July 9, 2022.
