Suspect in married couple’s murder nabbed in Genting Highlands


POLICE have arrested a suspect in the case of a married couple who were found murdered in Taman Bercham Aman, Ipoh, yesterday.

Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 61-year-old suspect, who is a younger brother of the male victim, was arrested at 7.45pm in Genting Highlands, Pahang, yesterday.

“Police also found an axe, believed to have been used in the murder,” he said in a statement today.

He said the suspect would be taken to the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court today for a remand order.

Mior thanked Resort World Genting management and the public for their assistance in the arrest of the suspect within 11 hours of the alleged killings.

Police received information about the double homicides of housewife Ooi Tin Lu, 59, and her mechanic husband Ng Chun Hon, 64, at 8.50am. 

The report was filed by Ng’s elder brother, who had found the couple unconscious and covered in blood when he returned home after work.

A police team and medics went to the scene and found the two victims dead, believed to be due to head injuries.

The police mounted a search for Ng’s younger brother, who had vanished along with the victims’ Proton Saga car. – Bernama, July 8, 2022.
