HEALTH Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has advised the public to take extra precautionary measures ahead of this Hari Raya Aidiladha, in view of the rising daily caseload.
“The last Hari Raya Aidilfitri saw the number of daily cases jump to 3,410 on May 12, 2022,” the minister said.
“This is partly due to the increase in movement rates in the community and people gathering in groups.
“So, ahead of this Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration, stay alert when visiting family members.
“Wear a face mask when in an enclosed and crowded area, practice TRIIS (test, report, isolate, inform and seek). Do a self-test before returning to your hometown,” he said on Twitter today.
The Ministry of Health reported 3,561 Covid-19 cases yesterday, the first time the nation had recorded more than 3,000 daily infections since May 13.
Meanwhile, Malaysia has not logged this many infections since April 24, when 4,006 cases were reported.
Some 4.58 million cases have now been reported since the onset of the pandemic.
Malaysia entered the transition to the endemic phase of Covid-19 on April 1.
Starting May 1, several other restrictions were relaxed, which also allowed gathering and interstate travel regardless of vaccination status, among others.
The country had been reporting daily cases below 3,000 for the past months until yesterday. – July 7, 2022.
