Is Tajuddin afraid of MACC probe, asks Puad

UMNOs Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s expose yesterday was nothing more than an attempt to cover up an alleged corruption probe, Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi suggested.

Commenting on Facebook, Puad said the Pasir Salak lawmaker had twisted many facts as he was afraid of the investigation.

“He was afraid when he was probed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). There are many living witnesses.”

“He twisted a lot of facts and he was acting as if he was a hero. Everyone knows Tajuddin had many meetings at his home. Why the 200-degree turn,” asked Puad.

Yesterday, in a press conference Tajuddin said that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had gathered signatures of many Umno MPs to support Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister back in 2020.

He revealed that he was forced to sign a statutory declaration to back Anwar by the Umno president even though he refused to do so.

He also disclosed that Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan had initially agreed to pressure Zahid to step down as president but backed off after he was confronted by Zahid’s political secretary.

Puad branded Tajuddin as having the same standard as Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Tronoh assemblyman Paul Yong, and Melalap assemblyman Peter Anthony.

Xavier left Pakatan Harapan to back the Muhyiddin Yassin government following an anti-graft probe while Yong left DAP due to his alleged rape case.

Anthony, who left Warisan had denied that he ditched the party due to his forgery trial.

“They are all afraid and would ‘melt’ when investigated by the MACC. Pasir Salak carries the legacy of a warrior. However, the modern ‘living witness’ from Pasir Salak melts easily,” he added.

Tajuddin was recently dropped as Umno Supreme Council Member and was replaced by Isham Jalil.

Zahid had previously said that the decision to replace Tajuddin was due to his refusal to follow party orders. – June 28, 2022.
