JAPAN will expand its sanctions list against Russia and freeze the assets of another 70 people and entities and ban exports to 90 structures tied to the defence industry, said Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as reported by NHK and quoted by Sputnik.

Japan will also support a ban on the import of Russian gold and stop the provision of audit services, said the leader at the G7 summit in Germany.

Tokyo earlier this month banned the export of trucks, dump trucks and bulldozers to Russia.

The latest restrictions are part of a broad range of sanctions that Japan introduced against Russia in connection with the special military operation in Ukraine, launched in February.

Japan, overall, has targeted more than 500 Russian individuals, 200 Russian companies and 11 Russian banks with sanctions since February 24. – Bernama, June 27, 2022.
