THE Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry (Mafi) and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will hold a meeting with industry players tomorrow to discuss issues related to the supply of chicken and the new ceiling price for the commodity.

Mafi Minister Ronald Kiandee said this follows Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s announcement that the government will not float the price of chicken in the market.

“The decision is proof that the government… protects the interests of Keluarga Malaysia by ensuring that the supply of chicken will continue to be available at a controlled and reasonable price.”

He said chicken supply remains stable in the third week of this month and will be adequate to meet demand.

Ismail Sabri earlier said the price of chicken will not be floated to ensure the people will not be burdened.

The scheme for maximum retail price of chicken was scheduled to end on June 30. – Bernama, June 24, 2022.
